BIG advantage here is that you had all that money to blow on lawyers and what not divorce court can be a black hole draining all of your finances. Another point is because so many men are fighting back the abuse abuse abuse claims just keep getting worst and worst, I mean they will spew so many lies to the court most men just give up. Some additional key points and the most important one is to to take the kids and file FIRST!! and make sure you make her out to be the biggest monster since bin laden, this will almost be a surefire way to win as your lawyer can drag it out for years while you have the kids. Also if you loose their are ways to win when they are 12 or 13 and can decide on their own, especially if your ex is controlling and always speaks for the children as its "their best interests." This will not work on teenagers and its easier to win custody if they want to leave their mother at that point. Never take the high road.

Thank you for the comment. I truly am sorry about your situation, but it is one men find themselves in all too often. As for the attack from the ex, I would record the situation. Personally, I own 2 of these: http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Camcorder-Business-Portable-Recorder/dp/B00FEA01O6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1425142456&sr=1-2&keywords=spy+pen Record her attacking you, do not fight back, call the cops and have her arrested. Do this a few times and she will leave you alone.

All too often people who give freely of their time and effort to help others get no feedback that let them know their efforts are appreciated and helpful.

Your article is a great resource and is going to have an impact on how I manage my ex wife and issues regarding my son and custody.

There are many chilling similiarities in our situations and thankfully several differences. I'm sitting here right now wondering if my son is safe. She forgot to pick him up so I sent a reminder text about 9:30pm. She just picked him up far to drunk to be driving and refused both my offers to either drive him over there for her or to let him sleep here. Then jumped on my back, clawed me, and ripped my shirt off when I threatened to call 911 if she insisted on driving him. My 4yo son was just screaming "what did you do to my daddy". As she's trying to force him into the car seat. Like you, it made me cry and this ain't the first time and probably not the last time that tears that will be shed before this is over.

Honestly, I'm scared to make that call cause the last time she spent the nite hitting me she made the call and it didn't go in my favor. I made all the same mistakes you did. Including leaving the house and defending myself. My defense was pushing her off of me. Long story short. No matter the amount or severity of assault I take it seems that a sobbing large chested blonde haired woman can do no wrong. It's sickening really.

Thankfully I divorced her and we no longer live together. However, since I see my son about 5 days a week I still have a lot of contact with her. Most of which is fine.....but the bad, is real bad.

Thank you again for your well written article. I hope the other fathers take heed. I hope the justice system takes heed as well. There are a lot of good and bad parents out there as well as good and bad husbands and wife's. I propose that what determines the good and the bad or the right to have custody or not is not determined by the sex of the individual. It's determined by their actions. I for one have been Mr mom since day one.

It's time for our legal system to make a change and give both parties in family matters an equal chance without bias towards one side or the other. It's the new millennium......act like it!
